As the 2023-24 season approaches, Arsenal, fresh from their impressive performance in challenging for the Premier League title last season, is gearing up for further success with a series of strategic summer signings. Among their prime targets is Crystal Palace’s talented midfielder, Michael Olise.
In their pursuit of glory, Arsenal has been proactive in the transfer market. The North London club has already secured three high-profile signings – Ajax defender Jurrien Timber, West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice, and Chelsea forward Kai Havertz, in deals amounting to over £200m.
However, manager Mikel Arteta seems eager to bolster his squad further.
Recent reports suggest that Arsenal faces stiff competition from Chelsea in the bid to sign Michael Olise. While the young French midfielder has a £35m buy-out clause in his contract, Chelsea is allegedly willing to go beyond and offer around £39m, potentially in instalments, to secure the deal.
With the departure of star player Wilfried Zaha to Galatasaray on a free transfer, Crystal Palace faces a challenging decision regarding Olise’s future.
Losing two key players could significantly impact the squad’s dynamics, and Palace must weigh the financial gain against the need for strong replacements.
Despite interest from multiple clubs, Olise is reportedly tempted by the idea of joining Mauricio Pochettino’s exciting project at Chelsea. Personal terms are unlikely to be a hindrance, further fuelling speculations about the potential transfer.
Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping a close eye on Olise’s situation. PSG, in particular, may find themselves in a strong financial position if Kylian Mbappe departs, potentially giving them the resources to pursue the midfielder.
Olise’s move, however, may not happen immediately, as the player is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during the Under-21 European Championship, which could keep him out of action during the early weeks of the season.
