Aston Villa is reportedly eyeing a potential transfer coup by setting their sights on Barcelona’s skilled midfielder, Franck Kessie, during this summer’s transfer window.
However, the Premier League club faces stiff competition from other suitors vying for the Ivory Coast international’s signature.
Last summer, Kessie made the move to Camp Nou from AC Milan on a free transfer and had an eventful season with Barcelona, making 43 appearances for the Catalan giants.
During the 2022-23 campaign, the talented midfielder showcased his abilities by scoring three goals and providing three assists.
As the transfer window unfolds, speculation swirls around the 26-year-old’s future, with several clubs expressing interest in acquiring his services.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Villa, under the leadership of Unai Emery, is among the contenders aiming to lure Kessie to the English top-flight.
Nonetheless, Juventus is another prominent club heavily linked with the midfielder. Despite Barcelona’s apparent intentions to part ways with Kessie, the player himself seems keen on staying with the La Liga outfit.
Besides Kessie’s potential move, Everton is also actively pursuing reinforcements for the upcoming season. The club is said to be eyeing Brazilian attacker Tete, who spent the latter half of the 2022-23 season on loan at Leicester City from Shakhtar Donetsk. During his time with the Foxes, Tete made 14 appearances and scored one goal.
Now, with Tete set to leave Shakhtar, Everton is keen on securing his services. The Sun reveals that the Toffees had previously shown interest in signing the 23-year-old in January, and now they are looking to make the move a reality before the new season begins.
Napoli and Lazio have also reportedly engaged in discussions with the Brazilian forward, who boasts an impressive track record of 31 goals and 15 assists in 108 appearances for Shakhtar across all competitions.
Meanwhile, veteran striker Edinson Cavani appears poised to embark on a new chapter in his illustrious career.
The 36-year-old is currently under contract with Valencia, which extends until next summer. However, reports suggest that he is on the brink of departing the Spanish club.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano discloses that Cavani is close to joining Boca Juniors, with a contract that will run until December 2024.
The experienced Uruguayan, who featured in 28 games for Valencia in the 2022-23 season, scoring seven goals and providing two assists, has been courted by several clubs lately, but Boca Juniors seems to be his preferred destination.
In another transfer development, Valencia’s rising star Yunus Musah is reportedly on the verge of making a move to AC Milan.
The 20-year-old American talent has attracted significant interest this summer, with Fulham also expressing desire to acquire him for the Premier League.
Yet, according to Romano, AC Milan has emerged as the frontrunner to secure Musah’s signature, designating him as a priority target.
Having been with Valencia since 2019, Musah has amassed 108 appearances for the Spanish club in various competitions, notably featuring in 37 matches during the 2022-23 season.
