Poland will face Faroe Islands in a crucial Euro 2024 Qualification match on Thursday, where both sides will be looking to secure maximum points.
After a shaky start to their campaign, Poland have slipped behind Czech Republic in Group E, leaving their direct entry into Euro 2024 at risk.
On the other hand, Faroe Islands sit at the bottom of the group with just a single point from three matches and are unlikely to qualify for any major tournaments soon.
Despite a stunning victory over Germany in a June friendly, Poland suffered a setback in their last match against Moldova, conceding three goals to their hosts, who snatched victory with a winner in the 85th minute.
Their opponent, Faroe Islands, started their qualifying campaign with a draw against Moldova before losing successive home fixtures to the Czech Republic and Albania.
Given Poland’s status as outright favourites, coach Fernando Santos may field a two-striker system, partnering captain Robert Lewandowski with Arkadiusz Milik.
With first-choice goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny fit again and Piotr Zielinski likely to feature in midfield, Poland will look to take control of the game early on.
Faroe Islands, on the other hand, will rely on experienced players such as Klaemint Olsen and Solvi Vatnhamar to make an impact. Young Sligo Rovers forward Stefan Radosavljevic is also involved and will hope to earn his fourth senior cap.
Based on form and quality, Poland are expected to secure a comfortable victory over Faroe Islands, possibly by a scoreline of 4-0.
A win will put them back on the path towards Euro 2024 qualification, and they will face Albania in a potentially crucial clash at the weekend.
