Gabriela Cavallin, one of the three women accusing winger Antony of assault, has released a new statement following his return to Manchester United’s first-team activities.
After taking a leave of absence to address the allegations, Antony rejoined training on Friday.
He met with Greater Manchester Police and Sao Paulo authorities this week, who continue to investigate the claims against him.
In response to Antony’s comeback, Cavallin’s lawyers have issued a statement on her behalf.
The statement highlights that the player’s alleged crimes are still under investigation by both Manchester Police and Brazilian Police. T
hey express confidence that he will soon face trial in court. The statement reads,
“We strongly believe that fallacies have been concocted with the intention of allowing the player to return to training,”
Despite his return, Antony did not feature in United’s matchday squad for their recent 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace. However, he was seen at Old Trafford.
During Antony’s absence and fellow forward Jadon Sancho’s limited involvement in September, manager Erik ten Hag explored various options at right wing.
Notably, he increasingly relied on young talent Facundo Pellistri, occasionally shifted Bruno Fernandes to the wider position, and even experimented with a midfield diamond.
Looking ahead, United will face Galatasaray at home in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
