Alaves vs. Almeria – Preview, Prediction, Team news, Lineups

Almeria’s quest for their first La Liga victory of the season continues as they visit fellow strugglers Alaves on a Sunday afternoon.

The visitors have managed only three points from their first 11 matches, leaving them at the bottom of the table. On the other hand, Alaves sits in 17th place with nine points from their first 11 games.

Match Preview:

Alaves has experienced a challenging season, with two wins, three draws, and six losses in their 11 La Liga matches, collecting nine points. They currently sit in 17th place, just three points clear of the relegation zone.

While Alaves secured promotion from Segunda Division playoffs last season, they have struggled in La Liga, with their last league victory coming in early September.

They are currently on a seven-game winless streak in Spain’s top flight but have only lost two of their last five matches.

Although Alaves lost 2-1 to Atletico Madrid in their last league match, they head into this game with high spirits after a remarkable 10-0 win over Deportivo Murcia in the Copa del Rey on Thursday.

In their five league matches at home, Alaves has won two, drawn one, and lost two. They are now set to face the only winless side in La Liga.

Almeria’s search for their first league win in the 2023-24 season continues, as they sit at the bottom of the division with just three points.

They started October with a draw against Granada but lost three consecutive matches to Athletic Bilbao, Girona, and Las Palmas.

However, they come into this game on a positive note, having defeated Talavera 2-0 in the Copa del Rey to reach the competition’s second round.

Almeria ended up 17th in La Liga last season, narrowly escaping relegation on the final matchday.

Their challenging start to the season is not surprising, and they aim to secure back-to-back top-flight campaigns for the first time since 2014-15.

The gap to 17th place is only six points, so there’s no need to panic just yet.

Almeria will miss Sergio Akieme, Ibrahima Kone, Luis Suarez, Marc Pubill, and Martin Svidersky for the clash with Alaves.

Largie Ramazani, who scored against Talavera in the Copa del Rey, is likely to start in an attacking position, along with Leo Baptistao in the central role, while Sergio Arribas could also be introduced into the La Liga XI.
