Barcelona FC is leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) Kylian Mbappe this summer, and according to reports from France, they are even willing to part ways with their young talent, Gavi, to secure the deal.
Mbappe’s future at PSG has been uncertain, with the 24-year-old expressing his desire to stay for the 2023/24 season before departing on a free transfer next summer.
However, PSG has put him on the transfer list to extract a transfer fee, and Al-Hilal’s jaw-dropping €300 million bid was accepted, but the player is not keen on a move to Saudi Arabia this summer.
While Chelsea, Liverpool, and Real Madrid are also keen on the Frenchman, Barcelona is determined to make a compelling offer.
As per L’Equipe, they have presented PSG with a swap deal proposal involving Gavi, the 18-year-old La Masia star.
Gavi, who had a remarkable breakthrough season at Barcelona in 2021/22, made 49 appearances, scored three goals, and provided seven assists. His talent earned him the prestigious 2022 Golden Boy award, and his Expected Transfer Value (xTV) is currently estimated at €86.7 million.
Although Gavi’s release clause was previously as high as €102.9 million back in April, Barcelona seems willing to part with the young midfielder as part of the exchange for Mbappe.
A previous offer including Ousmane Dembele was on the table, but Dembele is now set to join PSG with the Parisians triggering his €100 million release clause.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona is not shying away from a potential battle with PSG over Dembele’s release clause. They are prepared to demand UEFA to investigate PSG’s adherence to Financial Fair Play regulations and scrutinize their financial resources.
Despite this, Barcelona is ready to engage in further negotiations with PSG to reach an agreement for the swap deal involving Gavi and Mbappe.
