Chelsea beat Leicester 2-1

Chelsea secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, marking a happy return for former Foxes manager Enzo Maresca.

Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez scored for the visitors, while Jordan Ayew’s late penalty proved only a consolation for the hosts.

Jackson opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a brilliant finish, and he was also involved in Chelsea’s second goal, as his header was saved before Fernandez nodded home the rebound in the 75th minute.

Ayew’s stoppage-time penalty set up a tense finish, but Chelsea held firm to secure all three points and move within a point of third-placed Manchester City, who play Tottenham later on Saturday.

The result sees Leicester drop down to 16th in the Premier League table, while Chelsea continue their impressive form, having now scored in each of their last 11 league games, finding the net 23 times in that run.

Jackson was the standout performer, with the Chelsea forward scoring his seventh Premier League goal of the season - the most by a Chelsea player. He has also been involved in more away goals (seven) than any other player in the English top-flight this campaign.
