Chelsea Football Club is reportedly preparing a significant bid to secure the services of Bayer Leverkusen’s prolific striker, Victor Boniface.
According to sources, the London-based club is willing to spend up to €70 million (£58 million) to bring the Nigerian forward to Stamford Bridge.
Boniface, 24, has been a standout performer for Leverkusen, contributing 21 goals and 10 assists in the 2023-24 season, helping his team clinch the Bundesliga title and reach the Europa League final. This season, he has continued his impressive form with 10 goals in all competitions.
Chelsea’s interest in Boniface comes amid a striker crisis, with current options Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu sidelined due to injuries.
The Blues have struggled to find a consistent goal scorer since the departure of Diego Costa, and Boniface’s physical presence and technical ability make him an ideal candidate to fill this void.
The potential transfer has garnered attention from other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United, who are also monitoring Boniface’s situation. However, Chelsea appears determined to win the race for the Nigerian international, who almost joined Saudi side Al Nassr in January.
