Nottingham Forest’s pursuit of Dean Henderson faces uncertainty as they consider a move for Arsenal’s Matt Turner instead.
The Manchester United goalkeeper, who spent the last season on loan at Forest, had been expected to make a permanent move back to the City Ground.
However, reports suggest that Forest has turned their attention to Matt Turner as their preferred option for the upcoming season.
The potential transfer setback comes in the wake of Manchester United’s acquisition of Andre Onana for £47 million, which signaled Henderson’s probable departure from Old Trafford this summer.
The transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, revealed that Nottingham Forest has already initiated discussions with Arsenal regarding the conditions for securing a deal for Matt Turner.
According to Romano’s report, Forest is intent on signing just one goalkeeper this summer, and Turner is their prime target.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, on the other hand, is reportedly interested in signing Brentford’s David Raya as competition for Aaron Ramsdale, with Turner likely to be displaced.
Despite Forest’s keenness to secure Turner, The Athletic claims there is a discrepancy in valuation between the two clubs. This could potentially hamper the progress of any potential deal.
Nottingham Forest has already been proactive in the transfer market, securing the services of Manchester United’s winger Anthony Elanga in a £15 million deal.
Elanga’s announcement post on social media triggered excitement from Dean Henderson, with the goalkeeper commenting enthusiastically, hinting at a potential move to Forest.
