Jurgen Klopp, the former Liverpool manager and current Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull, has rejected Erik ten Hag as a managerial option for RB Leipzig.
This decision comes as Leipzig officials were considering Ten Hag to replace their current manager, Marco Rose, who has been underperforming this season.
Ten Hag, who was sacked by Manchester United in October 2024 after a poor start to the campaign, has been without a job since then.
Despite winning the FA Cup and League Cup during his tenure at United, his reputation took a hit due to the team’s struggles.
Klopp, who now holds significant influence over Red Bull’s football operations, has swiftly ruled out Ten Hag as a potential replacement for Rose.
According to sources, Klopp has a clear profile in mind for Leipzig’s next manager and does not believe Ten Hag fits that profile.
Instead, Klopp has drawn up a shortlist of alternative candidates, including Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner, Sebastian Hoeness of Stuttgart, and Roger Schmidt, who was most recently in charge of Benfica.
This decision highlights Klopp’s growing influence within the Red Bull organization and his commitment to finding the right fit for Leipzig’s future.
As the club continues to search for a new manager, it remains to be seen who will ultimately take the helm and lead Leipzig to success.
