Leicester City vs. Manchester City team news, lineups

Struggling Premier League champions Manchester City travel to face Leicester City on Sunday, hoping to end their recent poor run of form.

Pep Guardiola’s side have won just one of their last 13 matches in all competitions, leaving them 14 points off league leaders Liverpool having played a game more. A draw against Everton on Boxing Day extended City’s winless streak to three games in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Leicester currently find themselves in the relegation zone after three consecutive defeats, including a 3-1 loss to Liverpool in their last outing. The Foxes have the joint-leakiest defense in the division, conceding 40 goals in 18 matches so far.

Team News

Manchester City will be assessing the fitness of several key players ahead of the trip to the King Power Stadium. Kyle Walker missed the draw with Everton due to illness, while Matheus Nunes, John Stones and Jack Grealish are also doubts. Rodri, Oscar Bobb and Ruben Dias are definitely ruled out.

For Leicester, winger Jordan Ayew is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season against Liverpool. Ricardo Pereira, Mads Hermansen, Wilfred Ndidi and Abdul Fatawu are all sidelined through injury, while Jamie Vardy is a doubt.

Despite their recent troubles, Manchester City should have enough quality to edge past a Leicester side that has struggled defensively this season. The visitors will be looking to end 2024 on a high note, but the Foxes will pose a threat and may find the net themselves.
