Recent reports suggest that Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has received a “life-changing offer” from the Saudi Pro League, which the Premier League club may struggle to match financially.
According to former Premier League defender William Gallas, Salah has been offered a substantial salary by a Saudi Arabian club, which could lure the Egyptian international away from Anfield.
“I think Mo Salah has a big offer from Saudi, and the problem is, I don’t think Liverpool can give him what he wants,” Gallas said in an interview with Prime Casino. “I’m sure the salary that the Saudi’s have offered him is huge money. If Liverpool can’t match the offer or make him an offer that he wants, it looks like at the end of the season, he will go there.
Salah’s current contract with Liverpool is set to expire in 2025, and the club has been in negotiations to extend his stay. However, Gallas believes the lucrative Saudi offer may prove too tempting for the 32-year-old forward to turn down.
“He’s won everything with Liverpool,” Gallas continued. “You can see with his performances this season that maybe he has got a new target. It looks like he wants to finish as the best scorer in the Premier League, to get the golden boots, and it looks like he wants to win the Premier League or the Champions League again this season.
Liverpool reportedly rejected a £150 million offer for Salah from Saudi club Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023, but the latest verbal offer may be even more substantial.
The potential departure of Salah, who has been a crucial player for Liverpool since joining the club in 2017, would be a significant blow for the Reds, who are currently top of the Premier League and in the Champions League.
The club’s ability to match the lucrative Saudi offer and retain their star player will be closely watched by fans and pundits alike.
