Manchester United chief Richard Arnold

Richard Arnold’s Departure from Manchester United Anticipated Following Jim Ratcliffe’s Partial Takeover

Manchester United chief executive Richard Arnold is reportedly expected to leave his position at the club should Jim Ratcliffe’s minority takeover of the club be completed.

Arnold took over from former CEO Ed Woodward in early 2022 and has overseen the operations of the Red Devils amidst uncertainty surrounding the club’s ownership.

The battle for partial ownership of Manchester United has seen bids from INEOS chief Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, who recently withdrew from the race.

As a result, Ratcliffe remains the sole contender, ready to acquire a 25% stake in the club.

Ratcliffe’s proposed minority takeover would inject £1.3 billion into the 20-time English champions, primarily focusing on modernizing Old Trafford and the training facilities.

The Athletic reports that once Ratcliffe gains control of the footballing side of Man United, he is expected to relieve CEO Arnold of his duties.

However, there is a possibility that Arnold, aged 52, may continue to serve the club in some capacity.

Ratcliffe has a potential successor in mind, leveraging his connections from his time as CEO of INEOS.

Jean Claude-Blanc, who previously held executive positions at Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, is being considered for the CEO role at Manchester United.

The 60-year-old Frenchman brings extensive experience from top European clubs and has been overseeing INEOS’ sports portfolio, including French club Nice and ventures into cycling, since leaving PSG in December 2022.

The board of Manchester United is currently in the process of voting on Ratcliffe’s proposed minority takeover.

The decision, which could still be weeks or even months away, will determine the future ownership structure of the club.

On the pitch, the Red Devils have shown improvement after a shaky start to the season.

Under the guidance of manager Erik ten Hag, they aim to secure their fourth consecutive victory against Manchester City on Sunday.
