Manchester United Appoint Ruben Amorim as New Head Coach

Manchester United have officially appointed Ruben Amorim as their new head coach, the club confirmed on Friday. The 39-year-old Portuguese manager joins the Red Devils after a successful spell at Sporting Lisbon, where he guided the club to a league title last season.

In his first comments since taking over at Old Trafford, Amorim expressed a strong “connection” with the historic Premier League club, calling them “the engine of the Premier League.” He emphasized the “great responsibility” he feels in trying to return United to the top of the English game.

“When Manchester United talked to me, they told me about their plans. It’s a real honour because I was the first choice to start that path,” Amorim told MUTV. “So it’s a great responsibility. But you feel honoured and excited to be part of this.”

United currently sit 13th in the Premier League table, but are only four points off the top four. Amorim is expected to implement his favoured 3-4-3 formation, which brought him significant success at Sporting.

“We know that if the team plays well and wins games, everything looks so much better and the people really start to believe in the new stadium and new ideas,” Amorim said. “So, we know that we are the engine of the football. Manchester United is the engine of the Premier League in my opinion.”

The new manager’s visa is expected to arrive in time for him to take training on Monday and prepare the team for their next Premier League match against Ipswich Town on November 24.
