Former Brighton & Hove Albion star, Marc Cucurella, is urging his ex-teammate Moises Caicedo to seriously consider joining Chelsea, as the Blues ramp up their efforts to bolster their squad during the current transfer window.
Chelsea has been quite active in the transfer market, having already secured the signings of Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Angelo, and Diego Moreira. However, they are not content yet and are keen on further reinforcements, especially in the midfield. The club saw key midfield players like N’Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount, and Mateo Kovacic leave, leaving them eager to find suitable replacements.
One player who has caught Chelsea’s eye is Moises Caicedo, and they’ve made their interest clear by tabling a substantial £70 million bid for the Ecuadorian talent. Brighton, however, rejected the offer, firmly believing that Caicedo is on par with Arsenal’s record-signing Declan Rice and as a result, they are holding out for an impressive £100 million fee for the young midfielder.
Despite the setback, Cucurella, who now plays for Chelsea, remains enthusiastic about the potential acquisition of his former teammate. Speaking ahead of a friendly match against Wrexham in North Carolina, Cucurella expressed his excitement, stating that he’s read in the media about Caicedo’s eagerness to join Chelsea. Praising Caicedo’s abilities, he believes that his addition would elevate Chelsea’s midfield to new heights for years to come.
Cucurella’s own future at Chelsea has been the subject of speculation after facing a challenging first season with the club. Rumors suggest that he might be offloaded during this summer transfer window. However, the Spaniard has dismissed such claims and expressed his desire to remain at Stamford Bridge. Despite the initial difficulties faced by him and the team, he firmly believes that with time and support, they will overcome any hurdles and find their footing.
Looking ahead, Chelsea is preparing for their pre-season tour in the USA, with matches lined up in the Premier League Summer Series against Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United, and Fulham. The club’s supporters are eager to see their potential new signings in action and hope for a successful tour as they gear up for the upcoming season.
