Brazilian superstar Neymar had high hopes when he left Barcelona in 2017, seeking greater achievements outside Camp Nou.
However, despite clinching five Ligue 1 titles during his time at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), he fell short of delivering the highly coveted UEFA Champions League trophy to Parc des Princes.
Recently, the former Barcelona winger made a significant career move, joining Al Hilal this summer after bidding farewell to his stint in the French capital.
Likewise, Lionel Messi, his teammate at PSG, opted to leave and signed with Major League Soccer team Inter Miami following the conclusion of his contract.
While Messi fulfilled one of his lifelong dreams by winning the 2022 World Cup with Argentina in Qatar, his relationship with PSG and its fans deteriorated, ultimately leading to his departure.
During an interview with Globo, Neymar confessed, “I was both thrilled and saddened by his journey. He experienced the highs of heaven with the Argentina national team, conquering numerous titles in recent years. However, at PSG, it felt like we lived through hell. We both endured immense challenges.”
Neymar further expressed frustration, explaining, “We invest so much emotionally because we strive for excellence. We aim to become champions and create history. That’s precisely why we teamed up again. Our reunion was fueled by the ambition to make an everlasting impact. Unfortunately, we fell short of our aspirations.”
Still recovering from an ankle surgery, Neymar is yet to make his debut in the Saudi Pro League. The 31-year-old has been plagued by recurring injuries in recent years and has not played a match since February earlier this year.
