Tottenham Hotspur are currently pondering the possibility of proposing a part-exchange deal to secure the services of talented Nottingham Forest forward, Brennan Johnson.
Despite making significant progress in their incoming transfers during this window, uncertainties surrounding Harry Kane’s future have left their forward line incomplete.
With Argentine striker Alejo Veliz set to arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, manager Ange Postecoglou remains keen on further reinforcements in the attack.
The extent of these alterations may depend on the outcome of Kane’s situation, as the latest update reveals Spurs rejecting an improved bid from Bayern Munich.
However, Johnson has been on Spurs’ radar for several months now, impressing during Forest’s return to the Premier League last season.
The Welsh international made valuable contributions, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 38 appearances, operating both as a support player and a central striker.
Forest values Johnson highly and has placed a hefty £50 million price tag on his signature. According to reports from the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur is considering including Djed Spence and Joe Rodon in their proposal for the 22-year-old forward in the upcoming weeks.
Spence is already familiar with the City Ground, having played a crucial role in Forest’s successful promotion campaign in the 2021-22 Championship season.
He made 42 league appearances during that season. However, since joining Spurs from Middlesbrough, he has had limited playing time, accumulating just 41 minutes for the North London club. He also had a brief loan spell at Rennes, making 10 appearances.
Rodon has faced a similar situation, falling out of favor under Antonio Conte and spending the entire 2022-23 season on loan at the same French club, making 22 appearances across all competitions.
Tottenham Hotspur is now ready to offload both players, with Spence serving as the third-choice right-back and Rodon finding himself behind several central defenders. The imminent arrival of Micky van de Ven will further reinforce their defensive options.
On the other hand, Nottingham Forest currently boasts a well-stocked squad in every position. If they were to consider signing either Spence or Rodon this month, they would need to make room by allowing departures.
