According to reports, Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto, and they are considering a possible swoop for the 23-year-old in the upcoming January transfer window.
Despite being linked with a move for Neto during his initial seasons at Molineux, injuries hindered his growth, but this term has seen him shine brightly, scoring one goal and providing four assists in seven Premier League fixtures.
In his last five games, Neto has directly contributed to a goal every match, bolstering his performances with four assists from three games against Everton, Crystal Palace, and champions Liverpool.
His performance against Liverpool was particularly notable, as he subjected Joe Gomez to a torrid afternoon at Molineux.
Neto’s incredible form continued as he scored a powerful strike against Luton Town last weekend before playing a significant role in his team’s memorable victory over Manchester City last Saturday.
Against City, Neto picked up the ball in the middle of the pitch and burst away from Phil Foden and Nathan Ake before passing to his teammate, but Ruben Dias deflected the ball into his own net.
Arsenal was reportedly priced out of a move for Neto in the summer of 2022, and their attempts this summer were also turned down.
However, The Mirror suggests that head coach Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu have not given up hope of landing the Portuguese winger.
Despite Wolves being keen on keeping their star player, Neto’s increasing importance to the team means that they may be open to negotiations this winter.
The West Midlands club paid £15.5 million to bring Neto to the Premier League from Lazio in 2019, and he has since accumulated 12 goals and 17 assists from 118 appearances across all tournaments played in orange.
Neto’s impressive performances have also earned him a place in the Portuguese national team, featuring in their recent Euro 2024 qualifying match against Slovakia.
With Gabriel Martinelli still out with injury, and Bukayo Saka newly injured, Arsenal is expected to look for attacking options, which could include Pedro Neto.
