Real Madrid’s stars and manager Carlo Ancelotti were reportedly not keen on the club signing Kylian Mbappe this summer, according to former player Emmanuel Petit.

Mbappe joined Real Madrid on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, but his arrival has allegedly caused disruption within the squad.

Petit claims that Ancelotti and several key players did not want the club to sign the French forward, as the team had just won La Liga and the Champions League.

“I’m sure that Carlo Ancelotti and several Real Madrid players didn’t want the club to sign Kylian Mbappe in the summer,” Petit told Casino Hawks. “This was a Real Madrid dressing room who had just won La Liga and the Champions League and Mbappe’s arrival has only brought trouble.”

Petit suggests that Mbappe’s big personality and desire to be the star player has clashed with the ambitions of Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham, who also want to be the main men at the Bernabeu.

“The biggest problem for Mbappe is having two team-mates who also want to be the star of the show and want to win the Ballon d’Or in Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr.”

Despite Mbappe’s slow start to the season, Petit remains confident that the 25-year-old can turn things around if he shows the right “character and mental strength.”

However, the former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder believes Mbappe has his work cut out to win over his new teammates and prove he was worth the disruption caused by his arrival.
