In recent news, it has been reported that Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch would prefer a move to Manchester United if he decides to leave the Allianz Arena during this summer transfer window.
Gravenberch’s future has been a topic of discussion since the beginning of the year, mainly due to his struggle to secure a regular starting position in Germany.
Despite making progress towards the end of the season under coach Thomas Tuchel, doubts have surrounded Gravenberch’s future with the club.
During pre-season, the 21-year-old did not play more than 45 minutes in any of Bayern’s friendlies, and he remained an unused substitute in the German Super Cup defeat to RB Leipzig.
The arrival of Konrad Laimer and a new creative midfielder, combined with the potential deeper position of Harry Kane, has increased the competition for Gravenberch’s spot in the team.
As per reports from Foot Mercato, Tuchel is open to allowing him to find a new club either on loan or through a permanent transfer.
Options are currently being explored, and it is known that both Manchester United and Liverpool hold admiration for the talented Netherlands international.
However, it appears that Gravenberch would favor a move to Manchester United if the opportunity arises before the end of the current transfer window.
Interestingly, United is managed by Erik ten Hag, who was Gravenberch’s former boss at Ajax. Despite this connection, United is currently searching for a more defensively-minded player.
Liverpool, on the other hand, finds themselves in a similar situation after missing out on the signings of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea.
Jurgen Klopp’s side has now turned their attention to Stuttgart midfielder Waturu Endo, who is expected to play a holding role in the midfield at Anfield.
Nevertheless, Liverpool has been consistently linked with Gravenberch for several months and is likely to maintain their interest until his future is clarified.
Despite the interest from various clubs, Bayern Munich remains in a strong position due to Gravenberch’s existing contract, which still has four years remaining. The player was acquired for approximately €23 million, further adding to Bayern’s negotiating power.
