Italian tactician Vincenzo Montella has been officially declared as Turkey’s new coach, announced by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) on Thursday.
This announcement comes in the wake of the departure of former German coach Stefan Kuntz.
Kuntz’s exit from the team took place earlier this week, following his criticism of the players after a disappointing 4-2 friendly loss against Japan.
The Turkish Football Federation decided to part ways with Kuntz due to these differences.
Montella, aged 49, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Prior to this appointment, he had a successful stint as the head coach of Turkish club Adana Demirspor for a period of two years, which concluded in June this year.
His impressive coaching career also includes leading renowned clubs such as AC Milan and Fiorentina in Italy, as well as Spain’s Sevilla.
The Turkish Football Federation has confirmed that Montella will sign a promising three-year contract as Turkey’s coach.
A memorable ceremony is scheduled to take place in Istanbul on September 27 to mark this occasion.
Looking ahead, Turkey’s national team has an important Euro 2024 qualifier on October 12 where they are set to face Croatia.
With Montella at the helm, Turkish football enthusiasts eagerly anticipate a fresh era under his leadership, hoping for improved performances from the team.
