Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood is reportedly drawing interest from Atletico Madrid this summer, with initial discussions already underway for the transfer.
The Red Devils forward is currently on loan at Getafe after losing favor at Old Trafford. He was previously suspended following arrest charges that have since been dropped.
Atletico Madrid now appears keen on signing Greenwood permanently as Todo Fichajes reported that the two clubs recently held talks regarding the potential deal.
Greenwood’s impressive performances at Getafe suggest he could rejuvenate his career at a top club soon. Atletico could be an ideal place for him to kickstart his career again.
It seems unlikely for Manchester United to welcome him back, so the 22-year-old might benefit from continuing in Spanish football for the time being.
Having emerged at a young age for United, Greenwood seemed destined for a bright future in football. However, it now appears improbable for him to return to play for the club given the allegations he faced in 2021.
As per Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing column, Manchester United are currently not engaging in any discussions with Barcelona.
“In spite of recent talks between Manchester United’s executives and Barcelona’s director Deco, there is no ongoing negotiation for Mason Greenwood to join Barcelona,” stated Romano.
