French footballer Benjamin Mendy, who is currently standing trial for attempted rape and sexual assault charges, has been accused of engaging in sexual activities with an astounding 10,000 women, as revealed in the courtroom proceedings.
The trial, taking place in the UK-based Chester Crown Court, unfolded with startling revelations when the Manchester City player allegedly informed his 24-year-old victim not to worry about his intentions due to his extensive sexual history.
Mendy, a 28-year-old athlete, faces two charges: one related to an attack on a woman in October 2020 at his opulent £4m mansion in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire, and another for an attempted rape two years prior involving a different woman, aged 29.
During the trial, the prosecution, represented by advocate Benjamin Aina KC, disclosed that despite the woman’s explicit refusal to engage in sexual activity, the French international footballer purportedly raped her.
The incident occurred after she accepted an invitation to visit Mendy’s residence following a night out with friends at a bar in Alderley Edge, Cheshire.
According to the victim’s account, Mendy confiscated her phone, which contained private and intimate photos, before leading her to his locked bedroom. As she requested the return of her phone, the Manchester City defender insisted on examining her and asked her to undress. Compliance came in the form of removing her garments, except for her underwear.
Reportedly, Mendy carelessly tossed the phone onto the bed. When the woman attempted to retrieve it, he unexpectedly grabbed her from behind and proceeded to rape her against her will. During this distressing episode, Mendy callously remarked, “You’re too shy,” before making a shocking claim: “It’s fine. I’ve had sex with 10,000 women,” as relayed by Aina according to BBC.
The court also learned about another allegation of attempted rape involving a female guest at Mendy’s residence in 2018.
Maintaining his innocence, Mendy vehemently denies all charges against him, asserting that any sexual encounters were consensual on both occasions. In an earlier trial held in January, the jury acquitted him of several charges, although they were unable to reach a verdict on the rape and attempted charges, thus necessitating a retrial.
The ongoing trial has gripped public attention due to its high-profile nature and the shocking revelations that have emerged. As the court delves deeper into the testimonies and evidence, the fate of Benjamin Mendy hangs in the balance, and justice must prevail to bring closure to the victims involved.
