Carabao Cup quarter-finals draw: Liverpool, Chelsea & Newcastle face tough opponents

The Carabao Cup quarter-final draw has produced some exciting fixtures that include Newcastle United who will face off against Chelsea.

Liverpool will take on West Ham United, Everton will host Fulham while Port Vale, the lowest ranked team left in the competition, have been paired with Middlesbrough.

Newcastle United are hoping to continue their impressive run in the competition after a comprehensive fourth round win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

However, they will have to overcome Chelsea, who are seeking a first domestic trophy since 2018, in order to reach the semi-finals.

Chelsea themselves enjoyed a comfortable victory in the last round, defeating Championship side Blackburn Rovers at Stamford Bridge.

Despite their poor Premier League form this season, the Blues are determined to progress in the Carabao Cup.

West Ham United will face Liverpool at Anfield in what promises to be an enthralling encounter.

The Hammers secured their place in the quarter-finals by dumping out Premier League title challengers Arsenal in the last round, while Liverpool are aiming to reach their fourth consecutive Carabao Cup semi-final.

Everton, who beat Watford in the previous round, will face Fulham who defeated Aston Villa on penalties.

The Toffees will be looking to replicate their success in the competition from the 1980s where they won the trophy four times.

League One’s Port Vale, who eliminated Mansfield Town of League Two in the last round, have been drawn against Middlesbrough.

The encounter guarantees that one non-Premier League club will be in the semi-finals.

The quarter-final fixtures will take place in the week commencing Monday 18 December in the build-up to Christmas.

Fans can expect some thrilling encounters as the teams battle it out for a place in the semi-finals.
