Four Real Madrid youth players have been arrested on allegations of distributing a sexual video that featured a minor.
The incident came to light when the mother of a 16-year-old girl filed a complaint with the police.
According to Spanish authorities, the arrests were made after an investigation into the mother’s complaint. None of the arrested individuals are part of the Real Madrid first team.
Instead, they represent either Real Madrid’s Castilla team or the club’s ‘C’ team.
The arrests took place at Real Madrid’s training facilities, where the players were apprehended.
A spokesperson from the Guardia Civil, Spain’s militarized national police force, confirmed that the players were detained on suspicion of sharing a video containing sexual content involving a minor.
The girl involved has stated that any acts shown in the video were consensual. However, she alleges that the recordings were made without her consent.
The investigation will determine the accuracy of these claims.
Real Madrid has issued a statement acknowledging the situation. They revealed that a player from the Castilla team and three players from the Real Madrid C team provided statements to the Guardia Civil regarding the alleged sharing of a private video via WhatsApp.
The club has promised to take appropriate measures once they have detailed knowledge of the facts surrounding the incident.
The authorities have seized data from the phones of the individuals in question as part of their investigation.
