Man United Frontrunners for Aurelien Tchouameni Transfer

Manchester United is reportedly making a strong push to secure the services of Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni during the upcoming summer transfer window. The 23-year-old caught the attention of several clubs after an impressive season with Monaco in 2021-22, but it was Real Madrid who managed to secure his signature.

Tchouameni had a good run with Los Blancos last season, making 50 appearances across various competitions and providing four assists. However, he found himself on the bench during the latter stages of their Champions League campaign. The competition for a starting spot at the Bernabeu will intensify next season, especially with the arrival of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.

While Arsenal and Liverpool have previously shown interest in Tchouameni, Nacional reports that Manchester United is currently leading the race for the talented midfielder. The Red Devils, under the guidance of head coach Erik ten Hag, see Tchouameni as the perfect complement to Casemiro in central midfield. United’s directors are reportedly preparing to travel to Spain for a meeting with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to discuss the potential transfer.

Although Real Madrid is keen to retain Tchouameni, they are willing to consider a sale if the player expresses his desire to explore new opportunities after just one season in Madrid. The Spanish giants are rumored to be open to a fee in the region of £69m.

Tchouameni began his professional career at Bordeaux before moving to Monaco, where he played from 2020 to 2022, before making the switch to Real Madrid. During his first campaign with the Bernabeu outfit, the Frenchman played a pivotal role in their triumphs in the Copa del Rey, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup.

While Manchester United is on the verge of completing the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea for an initial fee of £55m, Ten Hag is reportedly eager to bolster his midfield options further. If players like Fred, Scott McTominay, or Donny van de Beek were to leave the club, there could be room in the budget to pursue Tchouameni’s transfer.
