Manchester, UK – Joshua Zirkzee, the 23-year-old Manchester United forward, is seeking a move away from the club in the January transfer window after being singled out for criticism by new manager Ruben Amorim, according to reports.
Zirkzee, who joined United in a £36.5m move from Bologna over the summer, has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford. He has managed just one goal in 18 appearances so far this season.
Amorim, who took over as United manager in October, has expressed “concern” over Zirkzee’s decision-making and ability, particularly his wastefulness in possession and failure to make runs into the box.
The Dutch striker is now keen to reunite with former manager Thiago Motta at Juventus, where he thrived on loan at Bologna last season, scoring 12 goals in 37 appearances.
Juventus are reportedly interested in a loan deal for Zirkzee, but United’s precarious position in balancing Financial Fair Play regulations may complicate a temporary move. The club could instead demand a permanent transfer, as they are short on center-forward options.
Zirkzee has not started a game for United since their 3-0 defeat against Tottenham in September and has been limited to substitute appearances under Amorim’s tenure.
The new United manager is looking to implement his preferred 3-4-3 system at the club, but is already facing challenges in getting some players to adapt to his demands.
