Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has reportedly given Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad the green light to begin talks over a potential summer move. Speculation surrounding Salah’s future has intensified following a report from Qatari outlet Alkass, confirming Ittihad’s interest in negotiating with Liverpool.
Ittihad is prepared to table an impressive £60 million offer for the 31-year-old forward. Additionally, they are willing to pay Salah a staggering £180 million over two seasons, making it an attractive proposal for the Egyptian.
While Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas, has consistently denied rumors of a move to the Pro League, recent reports suggest otherwise. The situation gained even more momentum when Ittihad Jeddah’s vice president, Ahmad Essam Kaaki, started following Salah on Instagram, adding fuel to the speculation.
Salah, who signed a new three-year contract with Liverpool in July 2022 worth around £350,000 per week after extensive negotiations, continues to be at the center of transfer gossip. Despite his commitment to Anfield, uncertainty looms over his future.
During Liverpool’s recent match against Chelsea, Salah appeared visibly unhappy when he was substituted for 17-year-old Ben Doak. Ignoring manager Jurgen Klopp, Salah removed the taping from his wrist and threw it to the ground, indicating his frustration.
In addition to Salah’s potential departure, Liverpool faces challenges as they enter the new season with a shortage of players. The club sold Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to the Saudi Pro League, leaving them in need of reinforcements for their midfield. Furthermore, their attempts to secure the signings of Moises Caicedo from Brighton and Romeo Lavia have encountered obstacles.
