Nottingham Forest’s Hwang Ui-jo finds himself in a troubling situation involving his sister-in-law, who has been given a three-year prison sentence for her part in trying to blackmail the player.
According to The Sun, the striker is accused of participating in the recording of a sex video with his former girlfriend without her consent.
The scandal came to light when the player’s sister-in-law purportedly shared the videos on her social media account.
She has been charged and sentenced for posting private x-rated videos of the player and attempting to extort money from him.
She allegedly threatened Hwang by sending a message saying “it will be enjoyable” if the videos are made public.
Hwang has strongly denied any involvement in recording the videos without consent, rejecting the allegations.
Despite his denial, Hwang faces repercussions as he has been suspended from the South Korean national team while further investigations are conducted.
The team declared his suspension with a statement (via The Sun): “We have chosen not to include Hwang Ui-jo in the national team until the facts are clarified.”
Currently, the South Korean player is competing in the Turkish league with Alanyaspor, on loan from Nottingham.
With 382 senior appearances in his career, he has scored 110 goals and provided 30 assists.
