OXLADE CHAMBERLAIN is mulling over an enticing offer to join Turkish football club Besiktas, as reported in the news. The 29-year-old midfielder is currently a free agent after his contract with Liverpool expired this summer.
Having played for Liverpool and won both the Champions League and the Premier League, Oxlade-Chamberlain is now considering new options.
The former England international has received offers from the Saudi Pro League to join his former Reds teammates Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, and Roberto Firmino. However, it seems that Besiktas has emerged as a strong contender for his signature.
According to BBC Sport, the Turkish side has approached Oxlade-Chamberlain with a tempting two-year contract, along with an option for a third year. While the midfielder is yet to accept the proposal, he is actively contemplating the opportunity.
During his time at Liverpool, Oxlade-Chamberlain played 146 games and netted 18 goals. Despite these contributions, he became a bit-part player under Klopp due to fierce positional competition and several injuries.
In an interview with The Mirror, Oxlade-Chamberlain stated, “I think I need to go and play somewhere as consistently as possible. They say you’re coming into your peak at 29, so I want to go and test myself, play consistently somewhere.”
Besiktas is known for having English players in their squad, with Dele Alli experiencing a short loan spell from Everton and winger Nathan Redmond, who recently joined Burnley after his contract in Istanbul expired.
The club has also shown interest in Everton winger Demarai Gray, but it seems that the Jamaican international is likely heading to Fulham.
