Queens Park Rangers have bolstered their squad ahead of the upcoming Championship season by signing midfielder Jack Colback on a free transfer.
The 33-year-old player became a free agent after parting ways with Nottingham Forest at the end of his contract earlier this summer.
Colback, an experienced midfielder, has committed to a two-year contract with QPR, and the club retains the option to extend it for an additional year, potentially keeping him at Loftus Road until 2026.
Speaking to the club’s website, Colback expressed his excitement about joining Queens Park Rangers and being part of the manager’s vision for the team.
He acknowledged the challenges of the Championship, emphasizing the need for hard work and readiness to face various tactical approaches from opponents. The midfielder’s experience, calmness on the pitch, and leadership qualities are expected to be valuable assets for QPR.
Gareth Ainsworth, the manager of Queens Park Rangers, praised the signing of Colback, highlighting his qualities on and off the ball. Ainsworth believes that Colback’s energy, experience, and winning mentality will have a positive impact on the team and expressed his eagerness to see him in action.
Colback’s previous experience in the Championship with Ipswich Town, Newcastle United, and Nottingham Forest, including promotion to the Premier League with the latter two clubs, adds valuable top-level experience to the QPR squad.
While Colback may not start immediately due to building match fitness, QPR fans eagerly anticipate his contribution to the team’s campaign. The club’s first match of the new Championship season is against Watford on Saturday.
