Manchester United has officially announced the departure of Brazilian defender Alex Telles, who is set to join Al Nassr on a permanent deal.
The talented left-back joined the Red Devils in 2020, signing from Porto, and has since made a total of 50 appearances in various competitions, netting one goal during his time at Old Trafford.
Initially vying with Luke Shaw for the coveted left-back position, Alex Telles faced tough competition. However, as time passed, Shaw solidified his position as the first-choice left-back, prompting Telles to seek new opportunities elsewhere.
During the 2022/23 season, Telles went on loan to Sevilla, where he played a significant role in the club’s successful Europa League campaign.
Interestingly, Telles will now have the chance to reunite with none other than Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr. Ronaldo had left Manchester United prior to the 2022 World Cup and made a surprising move to the Middle East club, becoming one of the first major players to do so.
The deal that saw Alex Telles move to Al Nassr was not without its twists and turns. Initially, it had stalled, and there were rumors of Telles potentially returning to Brazil with Flamengo instead of moving to Saudi Arabia.
Nevertheless, the transfer has now been finalized, and Telles is set to join Al Nassr’s ranks.
Upon his arrival in Riyadh, Alex Telles will be joining other notable new signings, including Seko Fofana and Marcelo Brozovic.
With the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo and former Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina, Al Nassr’s squad is shaping up to be a formidable force in the upcoming season.
