West Ham United is reportedly engaged in advanced negotiations with Chelsea regarding Conor Gallagher, and they are believed to be at the forefront of the race to secure his signature.
There is currently a great deal of speculation surrounding the midfielder’s future, with several clubs expressing interest in acquiring him from Mauricio Pochettino’s team during the summer transfer window.
According to Florian Plettenberg, a journalist, talks about a deal for Gallagher are “well advanced,” and the transfer could potentially be completed for a fee of around €35m (£30m).
Last season, the 23-year-old, who has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and Brighton & Hove Albion, scored three goals and provided one assist in 45 appearances for Chelsea.
Although Gallagher still has two years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, it is believed that the club would be willing to let him leave for the right price during the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, there are reports suggesting that Wolverhampton Wanderers are nearing a deal to bring Matt Doherty back to Molineux after his departure from Atletico Madrid at the end of June.
The Republic of Ireland international left Tottenham Hotspur for Atletico in January but had a disappointing spell, making only two appearances under Diego Simeone.
As per the Express & Star, Wolves are currently engaged in advanced negotiations to reacquire the 31-year-old, who is preparing to return to the club he left in 2020.
Doherty enjoyed a successful first stint at Molineux between 2010 and 2020, featuring in 302 matches for Wolves. Now, he appears set to join Julen Lopetegui’s squad for the 2023-24 season.
In other Premier League news, Nathan Redmond is reportedly on the verge of undergoing a medical examination with Burnley ahead of finalizing a contract with Vincent Kompany’s team.
The 29-year-old is available on a free transfer this summer after departing Besiktas at the end of June.
During the 2022-23 campaign, Redmond made 28 appearances for the Turkish giants, scoring six goals and providing six assists.
According to Fabrizio Romano, an Italian journalist, the seasoned forward is preparing to travel to Burnley to sign a contract with the newly promoted club.
Redmond, who previously played for Birmingham City, Norwich City, and Southampton, is said to have turned down offers from European clubs and Saudi Arabia in favor of moving to Turf Moor.
Furthermore, Romano has stated that Chelsea is close to securing the signing of promising Newcastle youngster Ollie Harrison.
The 15-year-old has been linked with moves to Brighton and Wolves this summer but now appears set to make the switch to Stamford Bridge.
Romano claims that the Blues are on the verge of reaching an agreement for Harrison, who has already represented England at the Under-16 level.
As Chelsea prepares for their opening Premier League fixture against Liverpool on August 13, and Newcastle gets ready to face Aston Villa at home on August 12, these potential transfers continue to shape the landscape of English football.
