Marcelo Brozović has finally resolved the ongoing saga of his transfer. The Croatian midfielder has made the decision to join Al Nassr, a club based in Saudi Arabia, effectively putting an end to one of the most captivating stories of the current transfer window. There is no going back now, and it’s official.
Over the past few days, Brozović had been uncertain about accepting Al Nassr’s lucrative offer. He played hard to get, keeping Barcelona interested and giving them time to gather funds in the hope of bringing him to Catalonia.
Throughout this period, he also sent cryptic messages on social media, which irritated the Inter leaders who were determined to offload him. It’s surprising that a player who has been one of Milan club’s most dependable footballers for the past eight and a half years faced such treatment.
To address the farewell treatment he received, the 30-year-old Croatian took matters into his own hands. As a result, the European vice-champions will miss out on €5,000,000. Instead of the originally agreed €23,000,000, only €18,000,000 will be credited to the Milan club. However, Brozović himself is in a much better position. He has signed a three-year contract, which, according to earlier reports, will earn him a staggering €100,000,000 over that period. Initially, he was offered €20,000,000 per season.
Brozović is Al Nassr’s first acquisition in the current transfer window, although there are already several prominent names awaiting him at the club. The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Anderson Talisca, David Ospina, and potentially Wilfried Zaha have all been linked to the Riyadh-based club.
The Croatian midfielder arrived at Inter Milan in January 2015, initially on loan from Dinamo Zagreb for which the Nerazzurri paid €3,000,000. A year and a half later, they acquired him permanently from the Croatian capital.
During his tenure of eight and a half years at Giuseppe Meazza, Brozović featured in 330 matches for Inter. He played a pivotal role in securing one Scudetto, as well as two Italian Cup and Super Cup titles.
With his move to Al Nassr, Brozović begins a new chapter in his career, leaving behind a legacy at Inter Milan that will be remembered by fans and teammates alike. The midfielder’s decision has undoubtedly added further excitement and anticipation to the already eventful transfer window.
